The final draft of The Silver Well is now complete!

Pretty much all that’s left to be done is the final editing and the illustrations. The illustrations are now well on their way.

Although things are moving along well, I still can’t actually give you a publishing
date yet. It is likely to take a few months to get it into print.
The book itself is virtually ready, however, and I have sent copies to my two agents in the US.

CAA are my agents in LA and are dealing with film interest in The Kingdom Of Gems trilogy. Very exciting! I will let you know any developments.

I also have an excellent literary agent in New York who is dealing with the publishing side of things. I will be meeting with him next week after which I should have a clearer idea of when The Silver Well will be available.

Keep your eyes open as there will be some exciting new things added to the site very soon!

I’ll try to post more news here as soon as I can.

    Hello
has anything moved on with the film side of things Jasper?

  2. 2
    Jasper Says:

Thanks for your interest about the film.

There is no immediate news to report but I am waiting hopefully! It will take time but I feel sure that films will happen… the interest has been significant. Many people have commented that it would make a great film.

I have 2 agents now… one in New York working on the publishing of The Kingdom Of Gems trilogy and the other, CAA in LA, dealing with film interest. The film potential is still strong and I am very fortunate to have CAA, the world’s biggest agency, dealing with it.

I will certainly report on this blog when there is any further news of a film.

    Hello Mr. Jasper!
The Kingdom of Gems/Candara’s Gift is interesting. I’m interested by Jasper Cooper’s books. The book’s thema which is I rode, is spiritual journey and fantastic story.
I think, Candara’s Gift is much more interested and beautiful than Tolkien’s novels and Rowling’s novels. I saw acceptable children and childish persons.
    more Childihs book…
I will wait anxiously your Book 2. I have waited your second book (and etc.) so emotional.
And “We are anxiously waiting to reconnect with the characters.” So I am 🙂

    Best wishes from Istanbul, Turkiye…
    Your sincerely.
    Good luck!

Ps. I think that your story is suitable for film.

It’s great to hear from someone in Turkey who has enjoyed Candara’s Gift so much! Thanks for the comments, Elif.

Candara’s Gift is due to be published in Turkish soon, probably in the autumn. The translation has been done… very exciting!

Hello, I met you at my school! Thank you for coming to tell us about your book (Candara’s Gift), it is fascinating and I love it! My favourite charecter is Joog – he’s a kind owl.
This book is definately good enough for film.

    Bethany Says:

I find this book hugely enjoyable, I stopped looking after my Tamagotchi to read it!!
I did nothing but read it as soon as I got my book!
Jasper Cooper is my favourite author so far…

How did you think of the personalities for each charecter?

I even stopped watching TV and this is definately THE BEST BOOK EVER.

I can’t put the book down, it is just so brilliant!

I love the borders and drawings – they are so great!!

    Jasper Says:

    Thanks, Bethany for your comments.

I visited quite a few schools at the end of last term and really enjoy speaking to children and introducing them to Candara’s Gift. It’s great to hear from you and that you enjoyed reading it so much.

    Jasper Says:

    Hi kirrin,

It’s great to hear that you have enjoyed my book. The film is a little way off… but there is SERIOUS interest from major filmmakers, which is great! So it is impossible to say as yet how auditions etc would be done.

Aspiring to be a writer is a great thing to do. You can develop your writing at any time by writing short stories for enjoyment – that’s the most important thing. Good Luck!

    Jasper Says:

    Hi Kirrin,

Somehow I missed replying to your question back in October!

Writer’s block is a common thing it seems… and I can tell you what I do about it. In fact I do not consider it a block any more but just a question of waiting for creativity to arise. So I wait. I let the story sit in my mind and sort of play with it by letting it move around. Then, when I am relaxed, e.g. lying in bed. Ideas always come! Sometimes I wake up with an idea!

So my advice is, don’t panic, be patient and relaxed, and get the hang of waiting. I find that this works very well.

    Good luck,

    Jasper

    Alice,

I’m glad that you enjoyed the copy of my Candara Gems Painting… it is about the same size as the original which is painted in oils. Do you have it on your wall?

I’m planning to have an area on my website where prints of my artwork can be bought, and maybe models of the characters in the Kingdom of Gems trilogy.

I also wish the next 2 books were out… be patient!

does it take 3 years to puplish a great book i hope it is out very soon im getting so excited i just cannot wait

  27. 27
    Jasper Says:

    Hi Alice,

Usually it doesn’t take 3 years to publish a book! The Silver Well was completed some time ago and so it has been a frustrating wait for me, as well as all the people waiting for it. However… all is well now and The Silver Well is on it’s way. The Glass Prison will follow within a few months – I am intending April. When the trilogy is complete I will be working on further books. The truth about DWT (the Dark Wizard Troubler), and why he is evil, will all be revealed in due course.
The film interest is still alive and hopefully will happen at some time. Very exciting!

    Best wishes,

    Jasper

    Jasper Says:

    Hi Josh,

I’m really glad you’re enjoying Candara’s Gift so much. I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Harwich School – it was a great day!
The title for The Silver Well came from the time I drew the map of The Kingdom of Gems and put the Silver Well in Silvermay Forest. At that time, the three books of the trilogy were one and the Silver Well was not in the story at all. It was early days in the creation of the trilogy, and it’s only when I developed the story further, with a lot of work, that I brought in the Silver Well. When the books were virtually finished, I named the second book in the trilogy. So it started with a dot on the map!

    Best wishes,

    Jasper

    Hello Jasper

Is your new book, the silver well out in stores yet or are they only sold online?

    Jasper Says:

    Hi Hannah,

The Silver Well should be gradually appearing in bookshops, and can be ordered from any bookshop. If you order it from this website we would send it out to you straight away, so that is probably the quickest way at the moment. If you ordered soon you would still be in time for one of the bonuses… you would get a signed copy and your name in the back of The Glass Prison! If you do order it online, there’s a video of me explaining about this.

The Glass Prison is shaping up beautifully! I’m just reading through it to check everything and working on illustrations. The cover is on the way too.

I am aiming at publishing The Glass Prison in May/June, so you won’t have too long to wait!

    Good to hear from you.
